About Me:
My name is Emily Howse and this is my 3rd year as the Tri-Valley High School Counselor. My husband, Chris and I have lived in the TV district for the last 8 years. We have 3 kids, twin daughters who are 5th graders and a son who is a 2nd grader at TV. I previously worked at The University of Missouri at Columbia in the Financial Aid Office, at Hononegah High School in Rockton, IL in the Guidance and Career Planning Office and at Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory School in Indianapolis, IN as an Academic Advisor. I received My Bachelors Of Arts in Secondary Teaching/Social Sciences from Millikin University in Decatur, IL and received my Masters in School Counseling from Butler University in Indianapolis, IN. I look forward to working with the students and parents at Tri-Valley! My door is always open for questions, concerns or just a chat. Let's go Vikings!
What Does a School Counselor Do?
The role of a school counselor has changed quite a bit over the last few decades as our job description develops. According to the American School Counselor Association (ASCA), "they (school counselors) help all students in the areas of academic achievement, personal/social development and career development, ensuring today's students become the productive, well-adjusted adults of tomorrow."
