PSAT 10
All Tri-Valley sophomores are offered the opportunity to take the PSAT 10 (a practice SAT designed for the sophomore level) in the spring when juniors take the SAT.
The 2023-2024 test date will be in the spring of 2024 with the test being digital.
The PSAT 10 focuses on the knowledge, skills, and understandings that research has identified as most important for college and career readiness and success. The test emphasizes the meaning of words in extended contexts and on how word choice shares meaning, tone, and impact. Students are not penalized for guessing.
The total test takes 2 hours and 14 minutes to take and consists of 2 sections: the Reading and Writing Section (1) and the Math Section (2).
The test is scored out of 1520, with a reading and writing/language subscore out of 760 and a math subscore out of 760. Scores are further broken down to specific test scores and key content scores so students are able to pinpoint what they need to work on.
