Social/Emotional Resources
From the Tri-Valley High School HandbookXXI. Suicide and Depression Awareness and Prevention Youth suicide impacts the safety of the school environment. It also affects the school community, diminishing the ability of surviving students to learn and the school’s ability to educate. Suicide and depression awareness and prevention are important goals of the school district. The school district maintains student and parent resources on suicide and depression awareness and prevention. Much of this information, including a copy of school district’s policy, is posted on the school district website. Information can also be obtained from the school counselor.
The National Suicide Prevention Hotline is 1-800-273-8255. This hotline provides free and confidential support for people in distress, prevention, and crisis resources for you or your loved ones, and best practices for professionals
If you know of someone who is self-harming or contemplating suicide, it is important you contact an adult right away. If it is during the school day, please go see the counselor immediately or tell a teacher. If you find out during the evening, please tell a parent or call the police.
If you need to get an adolescent evaluated for risk of suicide and the agencies below are not available, you may always take your youth to the emergency room for evaluation.
Below are some resources in our community and on the web to help with mental health concerns.
